In English this week we watched a short clip set in abandoned city which had been taken over by robots. Then we wrote a monologue of how the person felt when they saw the robots in video. Before we started writing our monologues, we made notes of the events in the clip and used a range of vocabulary to describe how the person is feeling.

Our focus in Art this week has been perspective. We tried to design our own abandoned city using a single point perspective. We were using vanishing points to help us to see how far away or how small to draw the objects or buildings.

“It was tricky to draw the buildings in 3d to the vanishing point”
“I enjoyed drawing my perspective, I drew a bridge on river”

In Maths, this week we have been learning about perimeter of compound shapes. We were given some of measurements of the sides of the shapes but needed to find the length of the missing side. Then calculate the perimeter.

Homework is given out weekly on Tuesday and is due in on Monday. In Literacy, the focus this half term is reading comprehension. Maths homework links to in-class learning to allow the children to consolidate their work. Spellings are tested every week on Friday and children can choose whether to learn ‘Core’, ‘Challenge’ or ‘Extension’ words. The children also have weekly times tables practice which should be evident in homework books.
