The Iris Class children have all settled beautifully this week. They have come into the classroom independently and remembered where their belongings need to go. They have been building their self-confidence and making relationships with each other, as well as the familiar adults in school. The morning children have stayed at school for a yummy lunch where we have been encouraging them all to use a knife and fork independently.

The morning children have also had PE twice this week where they tried really hard to get themselves undressed and dressed again with only a few back to front items. Please keep working with your child at home to increase their confidence and independence when changing. If you haven't brought a water bottle to school this week please can you bring one in on Monday along with all PE bags.

It's been a fabulous first week in Iris Class. We are all very excited to see what next week brings.

Home Learning

Once the Induction Period has been completed and the children are in full time attendance they will each receive a booklet of home learning tasks and activities for them to complete on a weekly basis. The most important of which is to read to, and with, your child every day. In addition to this there is a poem to learn to say, sounds and words to recognise and read and a mathematical activity to complete. After Christmas, as the children become developmentally ready, they will each have a small number of words to learn to spell each week.

How you can help!

These websites will help your child to practise skills that they have been learning at school.
