In Literacy we have been looking at non chronological reports and have begun looking at newspaper reports. We even has to use dedication skills to find key features, in order to find clues to solve a mystery.

“I have enjoyed using lots of description in my writing this week” Said Finn.

“I have enjoyed using description in my non-chronological report” said James.

“I have enjoyed creating my non-chronological report” said Louis

“I have enjoyed learning about non-chronological report” said Josh

In Maths this week, we have looked at measurement and even solved problems based on grams and kilograms.

“I enjoyed learning about measurements this week” said Natasha.

In our Inquiry we have been super creative and have all worked hard at making our posters. We have done a brilliant job and are all feeling super proud.

“I enjoyed making my poster about parrots” said Kaaviyashree.

“I enjoyed finding facts about snakes and putting them in the book I am making” said Poppy.

Primary Homework Help

  • PE day – Wednesday afternoon. Please remove earrings for these lessons. The children will need either trainers or plimsolls for outdoor PE until the weather changes and then they will need plimsolls for indoor PE until the weather improves in the summer term. We recommend plain tracksuit bottoms in school colours as well.
  • Homework – due on Mondays with the first homework being given on Wednesday 13th September 2017 which will be due back on Monday 18th September 2017.
  • Spellings – tests will take place every Thursday with the first test being on Thursday 21st September 2017.
  • Please have your book bag, reading book and planner in school every day. 

Home Learning

Throughout the year the type of homework that will be set will vary; with each half term having a slightly different focus. MyMaths will be used at different points throughout the year as the set homework but is available all year round for extra practice.

Here are some activities you can do at home:

  • Read every day
  • Practise using a dictionary and thesaurus
  • Practise your spellings for your spelling test
  • Practise your number bonds to 10, 20 and 100
  • Practise your times tables, 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, 8x, 10x
  • Practise telling the time
  • Ask your child to retell something they did at school
