English

On Monday morning, Year 6 came into a crime scene about frogs flying on lily pads. We were taking the role of Metropolitan police...

This week in English our class has been solving a crime about flying frogs that have mysteriously appeared on school grounds. We have been writing our theories down; we have also been given roles of witnesses and experts [detectives, Prime Ministers, zoologists, man eating a sandwich, old lady and farmers].

Maths

In maths this week we have been working on algebra. We have learnt some new vocabulary and although we’re finding this topic challenging we are very determined. We have been finding missing values and the nth term. We are proud to say that we are progressing in algebra.

Computing/Music

In computing we used iMovie to create short trailer for the book ‘Tuesday’. We were in groups of 2-5 and we had every afternoon of last week to complete it. We also created an instrumental piece to go with the book. Some groups decided to share their piece with the rest of the class. Every piece was different to the other.

REMINDER: A letter has gone out about purchasing SATS revision books and revision sessions after school on a Monday. If you want to purchase any of the books or send your child to one of the revision sessions please complete and return the letter.

This week’s blog is by: Izzy and Beyza.

How you can help!

Home Learning

Year 6 are given weekly homework that is set on a Friday and handed back in for marking on a Thursday. This consists of an English activity and a Maths activity. The children are also given weekly spellings to learn which are tested on a Friday. Homework is an important part of a child’s transition to secondary school, as when they are there they will be expected to balance and meet deadlines, so please encourage your child to complete their homework on time. Your child may also want to complete extra revision of topics they have struggled with at school.
