This week we had great fun making our bug houses and hotels. We planned our ideas then used all the recyclable resources that had been brought in. Some of us had to do some re-thinking as our original plans didn’t work, but overall we were happy with the results. We have taken our bug houses home so that we can observe which creatures move in!

On Thursday, we took a walk down to the lake to sketch the view. Later in the day, we used the sketch to write our own story setting, using all the things we have learnt about description this year.

We are hoping to send the pictures and the writing to some of our partner schools in other parts of the world as part of a project called “From my Window.” The children in other schools will also sketch a view near to their school and send them to us for a discussion. This is a very simple project, but will enable us and our partner schools to find out about the wider world.

During our walk we were lucky enough to see the swans and their cygnets and the ducks with their ducklings, which allowed us to have a discussion about their habitats.

Also this week, we have been using the online programme “Mymaths” to consolidate our learning in maths. This is something which can be used at home as a fun way to engage the children in the learning they have done this year.

We have also written a Geography Quiz based on all the things we have learnt about the world this year – we knew more than we realised!
Friday afternoon is Transfer Day, when we get to meet our new teachers, then next week has a host of exciting things to look forward to, such as our Summer Show “What a Knight!” Sport’s Day and a visiting Theatre Company!

Thank you for your continued support and enjoy the weekend!
