We begun the week with an amazing performance of “ Oh What a Knight!” at the Lighthouse Theatre. It was fabulous to see so many children from Years 2 up to Year 5 supporting the Year 6 children in their final production! A huge thank you to everyone who helped us as a school to make this wonderful production happen!

In the classroom, we have been presenting our inquiry homework to each other and what a lot of things we have learned.
“I found out that the King is the most important piece on a chess board.” Oliver
“I found out that baby swans are called Cygnets.” Liv
“I found out that children and mothers were evacuated during the war,” Harriet

On Tuesday, a little bit bleary-eyed, we began to plan an explorer story, drawing together everything we have learned this year about Geography and Science. We based our stories on the story of Christopher Columbus, but created our own versions, where the character discovers a new land and new species in their habitats. The description was fabulous!

We also realises that the children in Apollo are Geniuses and can find the questions to a maths answer in lots of really sophisticated ways!

We were so lucky to have Ellie Robinson with us on Sports Day! Not only is she a fantastic swimmer, but she is also extremely inspirational. We talked a great deal about the school values and how she has shown determination, perseverance and resilience to become such a successful athlete

In 2016, Robinson won four medals at the 2016 IPC Swimming European Championships. She followed this success at the Rio Paralympics in 2016, where she won the gold medal in the women's S6 50m butterfly event and bronze in the women's S6 100m freestyle event. She became known for her "gangsta swagger" as she entered the pool in her oversized coat with its hood up.

Ellie was kind enough o support us all during our Sports events and we had a really enjoyable afternoon. Luckily the weather was kind too.

It has been a pleasure to teach the children of Apollo this year and so from all of the Year 2 team, we wish you a fantastic Summer and look forward to seeing you around the school next year!
