This week in Apollo we have been writing our own version of the story of Small Knight. We used pictures to plan and talk about our story and tried really hard to use adjectives in our writing to describe the people and places.
In Maths, we have bene focusing on ordering numbers and learning how to write numbers in words. Some of us did our very first crossword using number words.
In Science we carried out an investigation to see if children get faster as they get older. We asked some children from iris class to do 10 star jumps and timed how long It took them. Then we did it ourselves and finally we asked some children from Zeus to do the same. To make it a fair test, we had to make sure that we all did the start jumps in the same way.
We used our data to explain that the older children were able to do things quicker and came up with some reasons why we thought this happened.
Next week we will be preparing for our visit to Elm Bank care home and learning all about Harvest and where food comes from. This ties in well with our learning in RE about festivals too.
Last week we began learning about how to move people or objects using a set of instructions or algorithms. Learnt that the word algorithms mean parts of an instruction and that sometimes you need to debug an instruction by going back and changing it. We also learnt the word Via which means to get somewhere by going somewhere else first! Next week we will be using the programme Scratch to practise moving objects on the screen with algorithms.
Finally, we have been doing exercises to strengthen our muscles for writing and have been practising the " strong Lizard" position when reading our books.
