This week we have been learning all about the festival of Harvest and how the Christian faith spend time during this season saying “Thank You” for all the food that we are able to grow.

We wrote some Acrostic poems about Harvest and tried really hard to develop our description and use of expanded noun phrases. Then we learnt about the journey of Bread! We found out how wheat is grown by the farmer and then taken to the factory. We wrote about this using “Time Words” and used actions and pictures to help us sequence the story.

Next week we are really looking forward to making our own bread and taking it down to Elm Bank to give to the residents when we visit them.

Don’t forget it’ our school harvest Assembly on Monday. It would be great to see as many parents there as possible!

In maths we have been learning pairs of number or “number bonds” to 10 and 20. Some of us were able to use sticks of 10 to do number bonds to 100. We used a really good programme on the computer called “Hit the Button” which you could use at home to help learn our number bonds.

In Science this week, we learnt about mammals and animals which lay eggs. We matched up adult animals with their young and learnt some new names of baby animals that some of us didn’t know. _ Mrs Meeks didn’t know that a baby snake is called a “Hatchling!”

In Geography this week, we have been making ariel maps of Wicksteed Park, which we are hoping to send to other children in other schools around the world to show them how fantastic our park in Kettering is!

Thank you for all your harvest contributions and for all the support we have had so far on trips out of school.

Telling the time is tricky!! We will be recapping on O'Clock and half past and also looking at quarter past.

we will be using what we know about how many seconds there are in a minute and how many minutes in an hour to solve simple word problems. Anything you can do to reinforce this at home will be helpful.

Talk about any plants we eat and which part of the plant we eat. Is it the leaf, the bulb, the stem or the flowers?
practise 2, 5 and 10 times table facts and corresponding divisions
