The children in Apollo Class have coped amazingly well with the small changes that this week has brought. We have carried on as normally as we can and have continued our learning in the classroom.

We explored descriptive language by comparing it with a time when we have felt terrified or sad and used this to help us write a final version of a diary.

In maths, we have been looking at arrays and have learnt how to use arrays to help us solve fact family problems. We remembered that multiplication is commutative and we used arrays of cubes to help us demonstrate this. We learnt that for every fact family, you can create two multiplication sums and two division sums which are the inverse of each other.

In Science, we matched up definitions to words which are all to do with parts of a plant. Did you know that a bulb is an underground storage part that has a short stem and lots of thick layers.

In Geography, we explored where London is in the world and where it is in the UK, using a map. We then looked London landmarks and tried to plot a route from one place to another, using compass directions.

Many thanks for all your support this week and in the coming weeks to come. These are difficult times, but if we do our best to work together, we are positive that the end will be in sight.

How you can help!

Telling the time is tricky!! We will be recapping on O'Clock and half past and also looking at quarter past.

we will be using what we know about how many seconds there are in a minute and how many minutes in an hour to solve simple word problems. Anything you can do to reinforce this at home will be helpful.

Talk about any plants we eat and which part of the plant we eat. Is it the leaf, the bulb, the stem or the flowers?
practise 2, 5 and 10 times table facts and corresponding divisions
