English

In English, this week we have been doing putting apostrophes in sentences and correcting the sentences. We have also been planning and writing portal stories. We have been reading and getting ideas from Shaun Tan’s story called no other country. It is about a family who run out of money and think that their house is bad and then they find a secret room in their house and it changes their point of view.

French

In French we have been looking at French culture and had a look at the famous underground the metro. We also had a look at a book about a wolf who helped us learn about the names of clothes. We have been drawing the clothes as well to go with the book. We also drew the famous road which was very long. We learnt about the meaning of the word fourmi.

MATHS

In Maths we have been learning about mixed numbers, improper fractions, equivalent fractions and turning mixed numbers into improper fractions. When we did the equivalent fractions, we drew shapes and shaded in the gaps.

Aztecs

When we did Aztecs, we looked at the timeline, patterns, maps, masks and posters/plays/PowerPoint. we also made Aztec calendars which had a series of pictures and numbers. we had a lot of fun doing this subject.

How you can help!

Please continue to support your child by encouraging them to read widely and frequently. They should also be discussing their reading with an adult on a regular basis. They will be entered into a weekly reading lottery if they have read at least 3 times /week and have recorded it in their link diaries.

Ensuring that your child is fluent with their multiplication tables is also incredibly beneficial for them. There are lots of ways that these facts can be practiced; chanting, singing, games, apps, web sites or simply writing them out.
