In Science, we have been learning about circuits and the components used. We were given a light bulb (lamp), lamp holder, two wires, a motor, a buzzer and a battery/cell. We had the challenge to make the bulb (lamp) light up.

“It was tricky because I had to keep wiggling the wires”

After we were successful in lighting the bulb, we were given challenge cards! We made a prediction, drew the circuit using scientific symbols then tested it!

“I enjoyed using the cards to test the circuit to see if they would light up the bulb”

In Maths, we have been using our times tables knowledge to multiply large numbers. We used the grid method. On Thursday we used our multiplication skills to solve an investigation! It used a lot of brain power!

In English, we have been writing poems which create imagery. On Wednesday we wrote our own poems which will go on display.

If you have any spare ribbons, could you please donate these to Athena Class. Athena class will be making a Christmas decoration to sell at the Christmas Fayre using ribbons.

If you go on any walks over the weekend, please could you collect some sticks. These will also be used for the Christmas decorations. Many thanks.

How you can help!

Please ensure that your child reads every evening and signs the Link Diary. It is still really important to hear them read regularly. We are hoping that all of the children will know their all of their times tables by July. 5 minutes practice a day is the best approach. Spelling is a real target for improvement in our class so any extra practise will really help

Home Learning

Year 4 are given weekly homework that is set on a Tuesday and handed back in for marking on the following Monday. This consists of an English activity and a Maths activity. The children are also given weekly spellings to learn, which are tested on a Friday. The mental maths test will be on a Thursday morning; this will consist of either times tables or number bonds.
