It was great to see everyone back at school on Tuesday. Even though it has been a short week, we have already achieved so much in Athena.

To introduce our geography topic, we have started making globes by covering a balloon with paper mache. We need to apply another layer of newspaper and, once this has dried and hardened, we will be painting the different countries and their surrounding seas and oceans.

In English, we have started to read Charlotte’s Web and we have been practising our debating skills by discussing Mr Arable’s dilemma over Wilbur’s future.

In maths, we have been learning about Roman numerals, and we will soon be moving onto negative numbers.

In science, we have been looking at food chains. To enhance our understanding, the whole class worked together to make one long food chain.

Finally, we had a very loud music lesson where we created our own canon using a range of different instruments. The children were fantastic and our composition was very dramatic.
