We have had a super week in Athena. In English, we have been creating story maps to help us to document and follow the story of Charlotte’s Web. This is preparing us for next week when we will begin to plan and write a persuasive letter.

In maths, we are continuing to focus on our topic of multiplication and division. This week, we have been halving and doubling two and three digit numbers using the partitioning method, and we are now looking at the relationship between the 4 and 8 times tables.

In science, we had an electrifying lesson where we spent a whole hour building circuits and identifying which were complete or incomplete circuits. The children really enjoyed this session.

In D.T., we have begun our topic on food and nutrition and we have been critically evaluating chocolate chip muffins bought from a local supermarket. This involved using our mindfulness skills in order to really appreciate the smell, flavour, appearance and texture of the muffin that we were trying. The children thought of some really fantastic adjectives to describe what they had tasted and smelt, and this experience will help them to focus on how they would like their own muffin to look and taste.

Finally, our paper mache covered balloons are starting to look like globes. We have painted the seas and oceans and, next week, we will be sticking on the different continents and countries.
