We have had a very industrious week in Athena.

In English, we have been writing a pen-pal letter to Fern (one of the main characters in Charlotte’s Web). We have organised our writing into paragraphs and have included an introduction as well as a conclusion. We have also written an envelope and applied a stamp and an air mail sticker to make it look as authentic as possible.

In maths, we have learnt the chunking method to help us solve division problems. This method can also be used to help us to find the answers to torture table division questions.

In science, we designed and built our own switches, which we tested using a complete circuit. We experienced varying levels of success, and we came to the conclusion that switches are essential items and that building a reliable switch was far more difficult that we thought.

In R.E., we learnt all about the Christmas story and we spent the rest of the session updating our Christian calendar with a beautiful picture.

Finally, in D.T., we designed two healthy muffins that could be eaten as part of a balanced breakfast. We have selected one of the two designs and we will be making our chosen design next week.
