Athena class are definitely ready for their half term break. They have worked so hard this year and Mrs Sanderson and Mr Forsyth are very proud of everything they have achieved over the past six weeks.

In English, we have independently written and published a poem, and Mrs Sanderson is really looking forward to reading them all next week.

In maths, we are continuing to work on developing our understanding of fractions and decimals. The children have been measuring different parts of their bodies and then dividing the answer by 10 and 100.

In science, we have carried on making our musical instruments from household recycling such as cartons and bottles. With the additional resources of rubber bands, paperclips and tape, the children have made a wide range of different instruments that all produce different sounds. The children have really enjoyed this activity and have produced some very creative work.

In P.E., the children were encouraged to work as part of a team to solve different problems. For example, one team had to work out how to turn a blanket over whilst everyone was on it. Another team had to work out how to lead their blindfolded team-mate safely through a floor maze. This P.E. session encouraged the children to work together and communicate whilst also demonstrating the importance of giving specific instructions. The children had a fantastic time and worked really well together.

Finally, the children have decided that the money raised from the cake sale will be spent on a range of fiction and non-fiction books, stationary such as gel pens etc and games for wet play. These should arrive in time for next term for Athena class to enjoy.

Have a lovely and safe half term.
