We have had another busy week in Athena!

In English, we have transformed ourselves into a 1940’s journalist and we have been busy writing a newspaper report about Kettering’s first ever bombing raid. The children have been working really hard and the results so far have been fabulous.

In maths, we have finished learning how to find the fraction of an amount, and we are now learning all about equivalent fractions.

In science, we conducted a very tempting experiment investigating the melting point of chocolate. The children were very restrained as the chocolate smelt lovely. However, we learnt that the melting point of chocolate was approximately 30°C, which was more than we predicted.

In history, we learnt all about the armed forces and, in particular, the kit worn by a World War Two soldier. We also listened to an interview with a World War Two veteran about his experiences as a young soldier and we all tried to think of a question that we could ask this gentleman about his time in the army.
