We have had a super week in Athena.

In literacy, we have started reading our main text called Wolves in the walls, and the children have produced some fantastic work by using evidence from the book’s illustrations to support their answers.

In maths, we been adding fractions and the children have been drawing and using fraction bars to support their understanding.

In science, we have been looking at how we classify different organisms and the children have been developing their own classification key.

In history, we have started to look at WW2 food rationing and the children compared what they normally eat in a week with a wartime menu. The children were shocked and disappointed to discover that chicken nuggets, coco-pops and crisps were not eaten eighty years ago and that the alternatives might be rabbit, porridge and fruit.

Finally, as part of our WW2 topic, the children have drawn and coloured a range of Allied flags, which we have used to decorate our classroom door. The result has been absolutely fantastic!
