On Friday 13th September we were lucky enough to visit Bosworth Heritage Centre to take part in a Roman day. For our first activity we met Boudicca! She told us about her life as a Celt and how it changed when the Romans invaded. We learnt lots of facts about the Celtic warriors and about their foods. Did you know that the Celtic warriors painted themselves blue and used lime to turn their hair white in order to look fierce.

We really enjoyed our second activity as we met a Roman soldier. He told us all about life as a soldier and showed us how they dressed and about their daily lives. We had the opportunity to have our own sword and shield and we learnt some marching and some attacking moves. We also learnt about the testudo or the tortoise which is a shield formation that the Romans used.

For our final activity we learnt more about Roman life. We wrote our names in Roman and made a clay coin.

We all thoroughly enjoyed our trip and it was a great way to start our Roman topic.
