Alongside our on-going Roman topic Athena had a sporting theme this week. Some of the class represented Hall Meadow in the rugby ‘megafest’ and impressed us with their enthusiasm and determination and some of the class cheered on England at the rugby world cup during Thursday lunchtime – they particularly enjoyed the big tackles!

We all had the opportunity to develop or hone our footballing skills with Harry from West Bromwich Albion football club. A really fun session and we managed to dodge the constant showers that we experienced last week.

In maths, we have continued to focus on place value and we integrated some history when we looked at Roman numerals. We have continued to read our class text – Roman Rescue – and we having been looking closely at the vocabulary being used and using clues from the text and our imaginations to create a map of the hidden secret room that the children discovered!

We had great fun on Friday afternoon using the ‘beebot’ car and the simple programming language ‘logo’ to move our turtle around the screen.
