In English this week, we have looked at poetry as it was National Poetry Day on Thursday 3rd October. We primarily looked at poems by Christina Rossetti and we had a go and writing our own poems in the style of “What is Pink?” We wrote some lovely poems but discovered that writing rhyming couplets is very tricky! On Friday, we used lots of different stimuli to write our autumn and harvest themed poems for our Harvest assembly.

Our exploration of place value continues in maths and we have been ordering and comparing 4-digit numbers. A big thank you for your on-going support with our maths marathon – lots of children are making steady progress with their multiplication tables.

Science was exciting, if rather yucky, as we looked at the process that our food goes through as it enters and leaves our bodies! In PE, we have continued to work on our attacking and defending skills in the context of tag rugby.

Lots of us are excellent at grabbing the tags – we now need to remember that the ball can only be passed backwards.

How you can help!

Homework will be handed in on a Tuesday and usually marked and sent back on the Wednesday.

Spellings will be given out at the beginning of a half term and tested each Friday.

Please can the children make sure that they have their reading books in their bag every day. Your child will have an independent reading book closely matched to their independent reading level but they are also able to choose a library book or a free choice book from school or bring in a book from home.
