Athena class have been very busy over the last few weeks.

To finish our RE topic on Hinduism we had the opportunity to make divas from clay and to make and cook samosas. The samosas were delicious and definitely filled us up!

We are continuing our Roman topic and have looked at Roman roads and at their gods and goddesses.

On the 6th November we all took part in the final day of the ‘Beat the Street’ challenge. We all had a fantastic time and our pulse rates were raised as we strode between the boxes.

In mathematics, we have been using formal column method to add or subtract two 4-digit numbers. In order to understand what we are ‘carrying’ in addition or ‘borrowing’ in subtraction we have used place value grids and counters to show how we can exchange (the vocabulary that we are using) ones for tens, tens for hundred etc. Lots of us have become confident with these methods and are applying our skills to word problems and problem solving situations.

Please find below a webpage that contains an online multiplication test similar to the governments checker.  https://urbrainy.com/mtc/test
