Welcome back and a Happy New Year. We hope that everyone had a good break and, like us, is looking forward to a fun filled term.

We started our new theme of "The Rainforest" by watching an extract from David Attenborough's Planet Earth 2. This helped us to very quickly feel like we in the rainforest with the wide variety of animals and plants.

This week we also began our new guided reading book, The journey to the River Sea by Eva Ibbotson. We have read the first chapter and we have been introduced to the main character.
"The story is engaging and makes me feel like I am there." Jenessa
"The story seems very powerful. I am hoping that Maia gets to Brazil safely and enjoys it there. " Oliver P
"My first impressions of the story are good ones because I have read a number of books where it is boring at the start but this is exciting because the main things are already happening. Emily.

In mathematics, we have begun a unit of work on multiplication and division. This unit will start with multiplication and division facts that we can recall with speed and accuracy and will move onto more formal written methods.
