Demeter have had another exciting week, especially when the Rhyme Rocket came to visit us. They taught us lots of rhymes and made us laugh a great deal.

In English we have been reading the book ‘Shark in the Park’ where we have made predictions about the text and finding rhyming words. We have also been able to retell the story and make our own booklet about the park. Over the half term holiday there is a production of this at the Lighthouse Theatre if you would like to see it. Our focus in Maths this week has been counting in ones and twos as well as finding one more or less than a number as well as recognising and writing numbers up to 100.

In Art the children used different media to make marks taking their pencil for a walk on the page. Jigsaw Jack has been helping us to keep calm and understand the importance of doing this. In Science we have explored our five senses – see if the children can tell you what these are. Next week we will be carrying our experiments to test our five senses.

Our phonic focus for this week has been – ff, ck and qu See if the children can say the rhyme to go with these sounds and can they remember the ones from last week (ss, zz and ll).

What did the children have to say about our week?

• ‘I have enjoyed learning about numbers in maths’ – Olivia
• ‘I enjoyed all of the maths activities this week’ - Brooke
• ‘I enjoyed acting out the story of Shark in the Park’ - Maya
• ‘I enjoyed practising my letters using paper on sandpaper’ - Gracie
• ‘I liked using the beebots’ - Noah
• ‘I liked using the beebot game on the ipads’ - Ellis
