Another fun and exciting week in Demeter class. Again the children have impressed us so much with their focus and they have all worked so incredibly hard – thank you. We were really impressed with the children’s homework this week thank you for your support with this.

In English we have been reading the book ‘Where’s My Teddy?’ We have been doing some writing about things we have lost and found as well as using fantastic describing words (adjectives) in our writing. The children have enjoyed acting out the story and have been asking lots of questions to different characters in the story. In Maths we have been ordering numbers up to 30 and thinking about how we form each number remembering that each number starts at the top. We have also been using different resources to help us add.

Our Science this week focused on us using our five senses. We had lots of fun travelling around the classroom exploring each sense. We tasted different juice, we had to use our sense of smell to guess what was in the cup, we looked really hard at pictures to find Wally, we used our sense of touch to feel things in a box and we worked with our partner to see what we could hear. See if the children can remember any of the things that they tasted, touched, smelt or heard.

Our phonic sounds for this week have been: sh, th and ch

What Demeter class had to say about our learning this week:

I enjoyed ordering the numbers on the ice cream cone – Risara
We enjoyed playtime, playing with our friends and playing football – Oliver and Elivia
We have enjoyed reading lots of stories and looking at different books – Brooke and Ava
I have enjoyed drawing and colouring – Archie
We had fun playing the number game and adding together the numbers – Rosa and Ellis
I enjoyed playing games in PE - Harriet

A few reminders:
• Homework to be handed in on a Monday.
• Please make sure that the children have their reading books and folders in school every day. The folder should have their planner and two books.
• Spellings will be tested every Thursday. Please can the children learn both the core and the challenge words until October half term.
