We hope that you all had a lovely half term? The children were very excited to tell us about all the adventures that they had been on over the week.

What a great week we have had in Demeter class. The children have settled back into routines extremely well and have shown excellent focus. Lots of dojos have been given out as well as lots of children ringing the bell and putting themselves in the well.

In English we have been looking at non-fiction texts thinking about the features that are included (contents page, page numbers, titles, headings, sub-heading, bullet points). See if the children can find any of these in the books that you have at home. The children have been writing about their holiday, using common exception words in sentences and have had a great time in our Toy Shop writing shopping list and using money. Our Maths this week has been about money. We have worked on our coin recognition as well as trying hard to make different totals. The children were able to buy different items in our Toy Shop. Any support with money at home would be really helpful; getting the children to make totals and to work out how much change is needed.

What an exciting day we had on Tuesday when we all bought in our toys for our History topic learning about Toys today compared to the past. The children shared their toy with their friends and did some great pictures and writing about them. In Science, out topic is Materials. On Monday the children investigated and explored different materials describing them carefully using scientific vocabulary (hard, soft, rough, smooth, bendy, dull). The children were fantastic at naming the different materials that objects are made of. I wonder if they can name the different materials in your house.
