Demeter have enjoyed learning and finding out about St Francis and will continue further work on this next week.  In Music, we sung through some of our Nativity songs and created our own graphic score.  There will be letters going out about costumes this week.

Our book this week has been a non-fiction book.  We have learnt about all the different features of a non-fiction book and used this knowledge to write our own non-fiction page about Hall Meadow and Demeter class.  The children were able to labels pictures and write some fantastic information.  In Numeracy, we have been counting carefully and thinking about the value of each digit in a number e.g. 24 has 2 tens and 4 ones.  We will be moving on to partitioning numbers e.g. 24 = 20 + 4.  The children have enjoyed using different resources to help their learning.   When recording this work we have been using ‘sticks and bricks’ see if the children can show you what this is.

We were all really impressed with their homework this week, thank you for your support with this; it really is lovely to see how hard they are working and how creative you all are.

Phonic sounds for this week: ow, ow and ur

Show and tell for next week: Maths

Demeter’s thoughts for the week:

Olivia – I have enjoyed all the learning in Maths that we have done this week.

Amelia – I have enjoyed doing number bonds to 10.

Nate – I liked learning our new sounds.

Sara – I liked doing the subtraction exit ticket in Maths.

Ruvimbo – I have enjoyed Go Noodle.

Max – I liked looking at my targets and thinking about what I had to do.

  • The children have been sent home with a letter about Education City.  They have their own log in (which will also be stuck in their planner for them to use).  There are lots of games and activities that the children can access on this which we also use at school.
  • Please make sure that toys the children are bringing in for playtimes fit easily in their book bags and do not make them hard to close.
  • Homework in on Monday and spellings tested on Thursday.

Another fantastic week of learning Demeter class, thank you.  We hope that you have a lovely weekend.
