The children have been working incredibly hard at school and have coped really well with our change in timetable to enable us to practice for our Nativity – thank you. We know that you will enjoy the nativity when we perform it to you in a couple of weeks. Next week is our dress rehearsal where photos will be taken that you can buy at the performances (there is a separate letter about this).

Our lead text in Literacy this week is ‘The Runaway Pizza’. The children have been able to sequence pictures to tell the story as well as using lots of different adjectives to describe the setting in the text and in other pictures that we have used as a stimulus. The children’s reading and writing has come on so much this year we are all incredibly proud of the progress that they have made. In Maths we have been continuing our learning about Place Value. We have used ‘arrow cards’ and the Cuisenaire rods to show how many tens and how many ones are in a number. The children have also managed to partition the number and we have even had a go at adding using partitioning – WOW. E.g. 24 = 2 tens and 4 ones.

The children loved sharing their teddy bears in History; we were able to make comparisons between old and new teddy bears thinking about their features, colour and smell.

Thank you to those parents who trusted us with their own teddy bears we were very grateful, they helped us to make a great teddy bear time line.

This week in Science we completed our Science experiment to find the best, material to fix our teddy bears umbrella. The children enjoyed using the water and worked scientifically to show what had happened. We had a really good go at recording and will continue to develop this over the rest of the year.

Phonics for this week: ure, ie, ou

Linked to our History topic where we are learning about toys from the past, please can the children bring in photographs of them from the past as well as books that will help our learning about the past.
