Happy New Year to you all! We hope that you had a lovely holiday and time with your family. Thank you for all the kind gifts that we received we are very grateful.

The children have come back to school ready and focused for their learning. There was some excellent writing completed on the first day back about their holidays (you were all very busy). This term we are focusing the children on different skills and attitudes as well as developing their independence and their independent thinking. Any support with this at home would be fantastic.

In Maths this week we have started to learn about multiplication and arrays which is a really tricky thing. The children have worked really hard to develop their understanding and managed to paint some fantastic arrays on Monday. Any work with counting in 2s, 5s and 10s would benefit the children. We have also been improving our learning about 3D shapes and describing them by their properties. We also tried for the first time this week some brainy bonds testing our knowledge of number bonds to 10 and some of us tried them to 20.

Our main theme this term is Homes from the past. The children have enjoyed working in our class Estate agents and have many exciting things that they would like to have in their dream house!!! We have been learning about the different types of houses and will be learning about how items in houses have changed from the past. This will be supported by a visit to the Manor House (a letter will be coming out about this shortly).

In DT we were thinking about food and why we need food and how we can have a balanced diet.

Please could everyone bring a book of their choice for reading buddies on Tuesday 16th January.

Show and tell for next week is all about shapes. What have the children spotted and can they accurately describe them, maybe getting us to guess what shape it was.

We have some nativity photos that were ordered but no name given on the form. If you think these are yours please see one of us.

Maya 'I enjoyed seeing all my friends again after the Christmas holidays'
