Everyone looked fantastic in their clothes for Genes for Jeans day last Friday. Thank you for all your generous donations.

As from next week we will be keeping the blinds to the classroom closed, this will help the children to settle down to their morning routines.

Our literacy focus book this week is called ‘Three Friends Together’ and it has helped us to explore what makes someone a good friend and understanding feelings. With this book we are learning about writing letters.

Our maths number is 13 this week. We have used tens frames to help us with the place value of the number, objects and resources to help us with some addition. We have looked at tally charts and the children really got this very quickly.

Jigsaw Jack has given all of us some certificates this week for things that make Miss Gilbert proud. We had some very happy and proud children on Wednesday.

In music we used different percussion instruments to make music by exploring if we could scrape, hit or shake it. Could we make music by using more than one of those actions?

Geography saw us making a pictogram about how we travelled to school.

In PE Mr Palmer played lots of instruction games including the bean game and pirate ship game.

Show and tell topic this week is anything to do with the colour red.

We remembered the spellings this week!! But we have a spelling sheet left in class that one child has not put in their book bag. Please could you check and let us know if it belongs to your child. All children have also got our phonic sounds booklet, to help with the rhymes and sounds we will be learning. There is also a common exception word list; it would really help your child to know and learn these by sight and to spell them over the course of this year.

A reminder that homework is due in on Monday, we would love to give out a whole class dojo for everyone having handed it in.

We have enjoyed:

David: Practising the Little Red Hen for our Harvest assembly

Teagan: How to be a good friend in literacy and reading our class book

Harper and Dexter: Learning with Jigsaw Jack and feeling proud

Amelia: Finding out how to be a good friend

Everyone loved getting their certificates.
