We have practised our ordering skills and using time conjunctions in literacy this week, linked to the story of The Little Red Hen. Today the children wrote instructions on how to make bread for their hot write based on the story.

We introduced ourselves to the number 16 this week and again the children were independently able to show lots of different ways to show this. We will now work on how to present our workings neatly.

On Wednesday we held our school councillor elections and each class took it in turns to cast our votes. We have been so impressed with the children who have decided to represent the school and our class, the speeches have been amazing.

In music we used the skills we looked at last week and put them to practise. We watched the story of The Hungry Caterpillar and choose an instrument. We then had to decide what part of the story it best suited and then when we watched in again we all played our instruments in the chosen part. The children showed good understanding with this.

This week we have been reflecting on our learning this term and writing up some evaluation sheets. The children have been very helpful to Miss Gilbert for remembering things we have learnt in Geography and RE.

Thank you to parents and carers who came to our Come and Read session today.

PE bags have gone home to be washed ready for next term. Please remember warm clothing and socks for all girls in case they wear tights. Also suitable footwear and check if names still clear.

All children will have their reading books over half term and we would love to see lots of reading recorded in their home link diaries.

Phonic sounds we have recapped and learnt this term are: ll, zz, ff, ss, ck, qu, ng, nk, ch, sh, th, ai, igh and ee.

Next terms homework will be given out when we return on Tuesday 30th October and spellings will be given out on Thursday 1st November. We may do a little high frequency word test on the first Thursday back.

Show and tell will be about all the exciting things we have done over half term. We hope you have a restful break and come back refreshed for Mrs Hay’s favourite term!

We look forward to seeing you all for your parent consultation appointments. The slips were given to the children yesterday (Wednesday). Please remember to put it in your diary and inform the school if for any reason you are unable to attend on Monday 29th October.
