We’ve began to pick up speed with the Nativity this week. Thank you to those that have given us costumes already. Please remember to name the bag clearly before you hand the costume in to us. All others need to be in school by Monday 26th November (next Monday). Your support to help your child to learn their lines is really appreciated. Once they know them we are working on the delivery. Loud and clear.

We have celebrated World Nursery Rhyme Week in Demeter. We have learnt and used lots of nursery rhymes throughout our work. On Monday we were using the ‘Five Currant Buns’ with shops and money. Tuesday began with a science experiment; Miss Gilbert made one boiled egg float in water! But the other one sank – Why? Can you remember? This led on to ‘Humpty Dumpty’ for our rhyme on that day. On Wednesday we wrote some descriptive writing based on ‘A sailor went to sea’. There are some photos today that the children wanted to share who were proud of their work. The rest of the photos will follow next week. Today we wrote instructions for making a cup of tea with the help of ‘I’m a little teapot’.

In maths we have looked at number bonds to 10 with some children being challenged with number bonds to 20. Today we looked at repeating patterns and filling in missing numbers on our number square.

Class councillors had their first learning walk around the school today. They have reported back to us with help from Joshua from Year 6. The focus for them is ‘Learning and Approach’.

We are having a few visits from lurgies in school. Please keep an eye on your child and make sure if they have had sickness or diarrhoea, they remain off school for 48hrs after they were last ill.

I am trialling weekly alien word photo. The children have all drawn so aliens for me and are very excited to see when theirs is used with a word. Can they spot a sound? Can they fred talk it? Can they say the word accurately?

Show and tell theme: The history of Wicksteed Park, what facts do you know?
