It has been show week here at Hall Meadow. We really enjoyed showing our Nativity to all the grown ups this week. The children were all superstars. We hope you enjoyed seeing all their hard work come together in our performances.

The pantomime came to us today and it was fantastic!! Sleeping Beauty was brought to life in our school hall. We booed at Maleficent, laughed at Silly Billy and Faceache. We saw Eric become Prince Eric and waken up Aurora after she fell asleep after pricking her finger on a spinning wheel. We even saw Mr Palmer and Mrs Coles dancing with the cast. Next stop Strictly come Dancing for those two!! We munched on ice creams and ice poles supplied by PACT – thank you.

We have made some fantastic DT products this week after linking up with traditional fairy tales. We have looked at mechanisms, pivot points, levers and sliders. The children followed instructions and made the character chase the Gingerbread Man and Jack climb the beanstalk. Thank you to the children who have brought in books with examples of these in. We enjoyed looking at them alongside our learning.

No spellings now until we return after new year. Please help your child to learn them when they get them. It is important so that they practise and use their phonic knowledge and can recognise them by sight as well as spell them. We are seeing some consistently low results and children are saying they aren’t practising them. The spellings give children the confidence to rely on and use their ‘Fred talk’. It helps them hugely with their independent writing as they will be more willing to have a go at unfamiliar words and increase their vocabulary.

Just a reminder for everyone to check that jumpers and cardigans are named. Could you also check that your child has the correct jumper? We have a missing one and it is named. We also have a selection in class unnamed if you are missing one.

PE kits will be sent home on Wednesday as we will still have PE on that morning.

No show and tell next week as we break up on Wednesday and there will be no blog, so may we take this opportunity to wish you all a lovely relaxing holiday and look forward to working with you all next year.
