A big Happy New Year from all at Hall Meadow. The children came back happy and ready to learn (well most of them did!).

We started the day with a cold write all about Father Christmas. We used lots of adjectives to describe his appearance and had several suggestions as to how old he is.

It has been lovely to listen to all their Christmas news. It sounds like a fabulous time was had by all.

In Maths we revisited place value and counting. It would be great if the children could practice finding one more and one less from a given number at home.

This afternoon in P4C we considered what makes us happy and if we would like to wear a ‘Happiness Helmet’ for the rest of our life. This proved to be very interesting with some thoughtful responses.

A reminder that all PE bags need to be in school by next Wednesday. Please could girls ensure that they have a spare pair of socks in their PE bag if needed.

Homework and spellings will be given out next week – this will be on Tuesday for both of them - to be handed in and tested on the following Monday.

Show and tell will be all about books – did Father Christmas bring any new books? We are looking forward to hearing about all any books they have read over Christmas. What did they enjoy and why?

We start a new theme for our learning next week – Up, up and away. We plan do to lots of exciting learning linked to space and flight. In our DT lesson we will be using lots of newspapers and we would be grateful for any newspaper donations.
