Well we definitely have green fingers in Demeter Class.....just look at our sunflower’s a week after planting. Fingers crossed we get some more pop up over the weekend.

We had a mysterious key appear in Demeter Class this week. The children all made predictions as to what the key belongs to. Luckily Mrs Grinling appeared and revealed the key belonged to her husband the lighthouse keeper. We were introduced to Mr Grinling who is the keeper of the lighthouse and their cat, Hamish. We helped her to come up with some lunch suggestions for Mr Grinling and also predicted what would happen later in the book.

We have been on fire in maths this week. The children have revisited strategies to help them find missing numbers from a list, introduced multiplication by using objects and pictures. Today we started to look at arrays. The children used cotton buds and paint to represent a sum. Can they show you at home?

Jigsaw Jack helped us to look at what makes a good friend.

Our assembly focus this week has been ‘respect’. This is a core value at Hall Meadow and Mrs Meeks did an assembly on looking again at our code of conduct.

In geography we have compared the seaside against the present day and the past. The children have used a chart to show what was in the past, present or both.

The children will be changing their library books on Tuesday 14th May (a week next Tuesday).

Good news is with bank holiday Monday you have an extra day for learning spellings and completing homework. No excuses accepted!

The children have really enjoyed finding things for show and tell beginning with a chosen letter. So we have decided to continue with this. The letter for this week is ‘c’.
