Welcome back to the last summer term and the last term in Demeter. We have enjoyed hearingabout their half term activities. They also did a recount on Monday and we were amazed with the quantity of writing from some of the children.

We have started off with finishing showing off work needed to allow us to start reports and monitor progress. It has been lovely to see some children have read lots over the half term break.

The spellings are different this term. The children went home with list that they are expected to be able to read and spell at the end of Year 1. We will be conducting random checks for their knowledge over the next few weeks.

The homework is the children's inquiry project and show and tell will incorporate their progress over the weeks. We look forward to hearing what their chosen topics are and seeing the final presentation in July.

Just to remind you about water bottles for this term. It is important that they have access to a drink during the day, especially when it gets warm.

Some good news for some of the sunflowers. Miss Gilbert kindly took some home to look after as some children weren't here when they were sent home. It appears that some took a little longer to germinate. We hope that some of yours woke up as well.

If anyone have any unwanted catalogues or magazines at home, please could you bring them in for Monday. Particularly anything mechanical.

To help and support us with next weeks phonics screening it would be appreciated if you could spend some time looking over the alien word booklet and the speed sounds at the front of the guided reading books.
