We have looked at adjectives this week. We helped to improve some sentences from ‘Funnybones’ and looked at the pictures and suggested some adjectives. We cut out masks of some of the characters and then tried to match adjectives that were relevant to that particular character. We have looked at rhyming words and read ‘Oi dog’. Can the children tell you what the animals sit on?

Maths has been looking at counting and writing numbers to ten. We have used tens frames, number digits, number words and objects to help to secure this.

Art was using our pencils to show different feelings with mark marking. Can they show you how they showed surprised, frustrated, happy and left out?

In Geography we explored what made a physical and human feature. We had to help Mrs Hay find some toys she had lost around the school. We used a birds eye view map of the school to help us locate all of them. She was very relieved to be reunited with them.

Science was brilliant fun. We explored using our five senses to smell different unidentified items in 6 cups (can they remember what they were…..no 4 was particularly unpleasant) and what flavour the crisps were (before they were tasted), drank some flavoured water to try and identify the flavour, felt in a feely box (what objects can they remember?), tried to spot Wally and his friends in various pictures and what parts of the body we were using to make particular sounds.

We have had a taster football session as well as our two PE sessions this week. PE was about agility and they worked in teams to play various games.

It is lovely to see what reading the children are doing at home. Please remember to record in the diary when your child has read. The diaries and books now have a lovely clear plastic wallet to keep them in. This helps the children to get them quickly out of their bags. Please ensure both books are in the book bag along with the diary every day, and that the wallet doesn’t get cluttered with other things.

The children enjoyed visiting the Book bus today.
We look forward to seeing you all on Monday at 9am for our induction. The children will come in first to get changed for PE then we will invite you to join us. Please wait patiently by the shed as Iris will have begun their learning.

PE days are Monday and Wednesday mornings. Earrings must be removed for these days. Please could girls make sure they have some socks in their PE bags for the days that they may wear tights.
