Our cover photo is a clue as to what has been our lead text this week……..can the children explain who the characters are and what they are doing? We have had great fun exploring the added arrivals of the hedge and how they solved a very important problem. We have looked at the setting, learnt all about hedgehogs and designed our own posters about hedgehogs.

A big thank you to Mrs Graham, Mrs Snow and Mrs Clarke for contributing to our request for leaves on last weeks blog. This has enabled the children to complete some artwork this afternoon based around our prickly character in our story this week.

We have done some showing off work in maths and literacy to see how the children are doing in readiness for discussion at parents evening. Please make sure you have made a note of your appointment day and time. The timetable will go up in our window at the beginning of next term if you have forgotten. Please make sure you let us know if there is a problem with attending.

In maths we revisited our part, part, whole knowledge. Practising number bonds to 10 would really support your child with being able to recall bonds quickly and out of order.

Our local PCSO, Mick, has been in to assembly to speak to us about the important safety aspects regarding fireworks and if the children go trick and treating.

No homework or spellings have been set over half term. These will be given out in the first week back. A reminder that all homework needs to be handed in on Mondays, it will be handed back on the Tuesday. Spellings are tested on Wednesdays. Pending marking and giving out this may either be on the Wednesday or the Thursday.

We would really appreciate it if the children could keep up with regular reading over half term. The exposure to tricky words, different vocabulary, needing to segment and blend, coming across unfamiliar words and hearing explanations is so important. Please record in the diaries.

PE bags have been sent home for washing, size checking and name checking. A reminder that girls need a pair of socks in their bags, this is in case they wear tights on PE days.

A reminder that sponsorship forms and money need to be returned to school tomorrow (Friday 25th October). It is also mufti day tomorrow with donations towards our Festive Fun night as per parentmail already sent out.

Have a restful half term, we will be recharging our batteries and it has been a long first term!
