Welcome back from the holiday break, thank you again for our lovely cards and gifts.

We started on Tuesday with an introduction to our term theme, ‘Up, up and away!’. The children spent the morning watching the film ‘UP’ and it prompted lots of lovely discussion, even about things we hadn’t anticipated. We then designed our own hot air balloon and wrote about why we chose that design and where we would like go in it.

On Wednesday we had an impromptu CEW spelling test to see how the children are with these words and which ones they are still unfamiliar with. In the afternoon we had a visit from Sarah who spoke and discussed with the children why babies cry and how they can be soothed. We look forward to hearing about Beth’s techniques next week. The children are very excited to see baby Isla again and if she has changed since her last visit.

Today we caught up with the guided reading groups. It has been lovely to see some of the children have kept up with their reading over the holiday break. We had a fantastic afternoon, surprising the children with an re-enactment of the house from the film ‘UP’. We will let them explain what happened. We also started our terms project, again can the children tell you about it?

We had a number of girls who didn’t have socks in their PE kits for when they are wearing tights, please could you put in a pair of plain socks for them by Monday. Mr C was able to run PE on Wednesday bare foot but next week they will need to be wearing footwear. We don’t have enough spares.

Thank you to Mrs Graham for bringing in some newspaper as requested on our last blog.

Could we ask for any washed out/cleaned 4pt milk cartons for another science experiment in the next few weeks……….thank you.
