The children have worked really hard to draw their own pictures of some beautiful flowers this week. We talked about the colour, shape, texture and size of the flowers and the leaves and then the children created their own version. They chose which media to use and what size of paper they wanted.

Our phonics learning has centred around our new digraphs, 'ch' and 'sh.' Geraldine the Giraffe helped us to find objects that either began with each of the sounds or contained each of the sounds. We have been working hard to put the sounds that we know together and then make a word. Some of the children have been doing this really well by listening to the sounds and some of the children have been using magnetic letters to make the word.

In Maths we have continued to order different heights and lengths of objects using the correct mathematical vocabulary.

Home Learning

Once the Induction Period has been completed and the children are in full time attendance they will each receive a booklet of home learning tasks and activities for them to complete on a weekly basis. The most important of which is to read to, and with, your child every day. In addition to this there is a poem to learn to say, sounds and words to recognise and read and a mathematical activity to complete. After Christmas, as the children become developmentally ready, they will each have a small number of words to learn to spell each week.

How you can help!

These websites will help your child to practise skills that they have been learning at school.
