Our lead text this week has been 'Super Duck!' The children have really enjoyed adding actions to the story as we have read the book. The writing that some of the children have produced this week shows real progress in their use of tricky words and phonic sounds as well as the physical act of writing so well done! Our new phonic sounds this week were the long 'oo' as in 'moon' and the short 'oo' as in 'book.' The actions were very funny. Ask the children to show you.

In PE the children have been using the big apparatus to go over, under, through and across. They have all demonstrated safety and calmness whilst using the apparatus.

Our learning in maths has been all about ordinal language and ordering objects, e.g. first, second, third. We have been using the vocabulary to describe where people and objects are. We have also been using balances to weigh objects and to see which is the heaviest and which is the lightest. More vocabulary work with this, e.g. heavy, heavier, heaviest, light, lighter, lightest.

Please remember to keep adding your observations, photos, videos etc to the ILD.

Next week, on Wednesday 31st January at 2.45pm we will be holding our 'Come and Write' workshop for parents. This workshop will focus on letter formation and how you can help at home. Thank you.

Home Learning

Once the Induction Period has been completed and the children are in full time attendance they will each receive a booklet of home learning tasks and activities for them to complete on a weekly basis. The most important of which is to read to, and with, your child every day. In addition to this there is a poem to learn to say, sounds and words to recognise and read and a mathematical activity to complete. After Christmas, as the children become developmentally ready, they will each have a small number of words to learn to spell each week.

How you can help!

These websites will help your child to practise skills that they have been learning at school.
