The new arrivals at Hall Meadow have hatched now and are being kept warm and safe in Demeter Class. The children have loved watching them as they have grown and changed. They are very cute!

Our lead text this week has been 'The Rainbow Fish' and the children have been talking about emotions and how our actions can impact on others as well as writing about the story and mixing colours to make our own beautiful fish. We will continue with this next week.

In Maths, we have been taking away practically and also by drawing our own pictures to represent the calculation and then crossing them out. We have also been reinforcing the correct formation of the numerals from 0-9. They all start at the top so try and remember and this will help you to get your numbers written accurately.

Thank you to the parents, grandparents and carers who attended our writing workshop. I hope you found it useful.

Next week, on Tuesday 20th at 3.30pm, you are invited into Iris Class so that the children can share their work with you. We are in a fortunate position that lots of our lovely learning is transferred onto the Interactive Learning Diary so people who log on regularly will have seen lots of it but the children also have folders and books so pop in at 3.30pm and have a look. Many thanks.

Home Learning

Once the Induction Period has been completed and the children are in full time attendance they will each receive a booklet of home learning tasks and activities for them to complete on a weekly basis. The most important of which is to read to, and with, your child every day. In addition to this there is a poem to learn to say, sounds and words to recognise and read and a mathematical activity to complete. After Christmas, as the children become developmentally ready, they will each have a small number of words to learn to spell each week.

How you can help!

Help to develop questioning skills and encouraging the children to record their own independent learning would really help the children.
