This week in Iris Class we have been busy making Easter cards, eating hot cross buns and thinking about how and why Christians celebrate Easter. The children have really enjoyed a range of tasks and activities.

On Wednesday we had a day thinking about the concept of' Global Awareness.' We found out what the word 'global' means and then started our thinking with how homes can be the same and how they can be different by looking at animals and insects and where they live. We then thought about our own homes and where we live including our addresses. Any work to help the children remember their addresses would be really helpful as a few of them knew their house numbers but not their streets and vice versa. We then looked at different types of houses from around the world and talked about the similarities and differences between our houses and some of those in different countries.

Thank you for your continuing support. Your children have all worked really hard this term and we look forward to working with you all again next term. Happy Easter.

Home Learning

Once the Induction Period has been completed and the children are in full time attendance they will each receive a booklet of home learning tasks and activities for them to complete on a weekly basis. The most important of which is to read to, and with, your child every day. In addition to this there is a poem to learn to say, sounds and words to recognise and read and a mathematical activity to complete. After Christmas, as the children become developmentally ready, they will each have a small number of words to learn to spell each week.

How you can help!

Help to develop questioning skills and encouraging the children to record their own independent learning would really help the children.
