The children have really enjoyed revisiting the story of Jack and the Beanstalk this week. We have read, watched, acted out, described characters and written the story. In Maths, we have been counting in 2s and 10s in a variety of different ways. We have been marching round the playground, chanting the numbers as well as ordering the 10s and 2s numbers. We have also begun our rehearsals for our Iris Class Assembly which is on Monday 25th June at 3pm in the hall. The children should have brought home some words for them to learn to say for the assembly. They are very excited!

Please can the children remember to hand in their homework on Monday. The children will need to put it on the homework pile in order for it to be marked. This will really help the children with the transition into Year 1. Thank you.

The children will be changing their school library books on Tuesday 19th June.

Our next 'Come and Read' session will be on Tuesday 19th June at 3pm. Would be lovely to see you there.

Home Learning

Once the Induction Period has been completed and the children are in full time attendance they will each receive a booklet of home learning tasks and activities for them to complete on a weekly basis. The most important of which is to read to, and with, your child every day. In addition to this there is a poem to learn to say, sounds and words to recognise and read and a mathematical activity to complete. After Christmas, as the children become developmentally ready, they will each have a small number of words to learn to spell each week.

How you can help!

Help to develop questioning skills and encouraging the children to record their own independent learning would really help the children.
