Thank you for the Harvest Festival donations and also for attending the Harvest Festival assembly. The Iris Class children were brilliant singing our Dingle Dangle Scarecrow and they also listened really well to the other classes as they shared their learning. We were all so proud of them.

We have continued to add new letter sounds to our Sea of Sounds display in the classroom and we have been trying hard to blend sounds together to make words. e.g. p-o-t = pot. This has proved a bit tricky for lots of us so any practising at home would really help to support the children.

We have continued to find out all about 'two' this week. Some of the children have worked really hard to increase their confidence and vocabulary to enable them to convince us what is two and what isn't two. we also introduced the concept of 'subitizing' which is where you see an amount of objects and instantly know how many there are. A bit similar to when you are playing a game with a dice some children instantly know the correct amount of dots on the dice. We joined in with a fun song where we saw a variety of representations of different amounts.

Jigsaw Genie helped us last week to learn the rules of our PSHE lessons and also that we are all the same but all different as well and that is OK.

* Tuesday 9th October 9am Maths Workshop for parents and carers
* If you haven't registered for ILD yet then please do. You are missing out on so many observations of your child. Keep adding your own observations form home this week as well please.

Home Learning

At the beginning of each new term the children will receive a booklet of home learning tasks and activities for them to complete and work on each week. The most important part of home learning is to talk with your child, read to, and with your child, every day and record this in their School Planners and allow them to think for themselves and develop their independence skills. After Christmas, as the children become developmentally ready, they will each have a small number of simple words to learn to spell each week.

How you can help!

Help to develop questioning skills and encouraging the children to record their own independent learning would really help the children.
