This first term has just flown past and it seems nearly impossible that it's now half-term. The children have been amazing since September and they have settled so well into life at school. Since going to assembly they have learnt how to sit quietly and listen in a bigger space than the classroom and to listen to other adults in the school. We have been practising writing our name this week as well as learning all about 'digraphs.' A digraph is where 'two letters make one sound.' This week we have learnt about the digraphs 'ff,' 'ss' and 'll.'

We have completed our self-portraits this week, looking carefully at our facial features including the colour of our eyes and our hair. The children worked really hard to get them in the right place and the right colour.

We have continued learning all about the concept of 3 this week. We have collected 3 objects, made 3 using numicon, added 3 to a number line, looked at representations of 3 and created our own actions to represent 3. For example, 3 claps, 3 pats on the knee or 3 jumps.

Thanks you to the parents and carers who attended the 'Come and Read' session on Thursday and also to the people who supported our Non-uniform Day.

Monday 29th October is Parent Consultation Day. We very much look forward to seeing you on that day. Enjoy half-term!

Home Learning

At the beginning of each new term the children will receive a booklet of home learning tasks and activities for them to complete and work on each week. The most important part of home learning is to talk with your child, read to, and with your child, every day and record this in their School Planners and allow them to think for themselves and develop their independence skills. After Christmas, as the children become developmentally ready, they will each have a small number of simple words to learn to spell each week.

How you can help!

Help to develop questioning skills and encouraging the children to record their own independent learning would really help the children.
