Another very busy week in Iris Class where we have found out about how some people celebrate Diwali. We've talked about how some people believe in certain things that other people don't necessarily believe in themselves. The children have learnt about the different celebrations that some people engage in during the Festival of Diwali. They have also made their own cards and Rangoli patterns using coloured rice and colouring resources.

The Post Office role play area has been a massive hit with the children this week. This has helped them to expand their spoken vocabulary and understanding of posting letters, parcels, postcards and how they all get to their destinations.

We've continued to find out all about 4 this week. We've been counting on if we haven't got 4 to make a total of 4 and splitting 4 into two lots of two, a double!

Please continue to read the reading books, tricky words and phonic sentences at home and record in the School Planner how the children have got on. The children who make the most progress earlier on in with their reading are usually the children that excel across the whole curriculum and do the best.

Interactive Learning Diary-Please continue to add any observations, photos and videos to the ILD. they really help us to see a full picture of your child.

Home Learning

At the beginning of each new term the children will receive a booklet of home learning tasks and activities for them to complete and work on each week. The most important part of home learning is to talk with your child, read to, and with your child, every day and record this in their School Planners and allow them to think for themselves and develop their independence skills. After Christmas, as the children become developmentally ready, they will each have a small number of simple words to learn to spell each week.

How you can help!

Help to develop questioning skills and encouraging the children to record their own independent learning would really help the children.
