All this week we have been giving each other a 'high five!' as our new number concept this week is 5. We have been counting carefully by touching each of the objects or items we are counting and remembering that 'the last number name we said is the amount we have.' We have been adding and taking away and counting on when we didn't have enough to make 5.

We have moved onto Phase 3 phonics this week and we have now covered all of the single letter sounds in the alphabet. Our focus has moved on to writing the letters and accurately writing words that have three sounds in them.

The children have been investigating the magnets and the magnetic and non-magnetic resources extending the language and vocabulary they are using to describe what is happening.

Thank you for the donations to PACT last week. They will really help the children.

Reminder that on Friday 16th November the children can come to school in their pyjamas. This is to support the Children in Need charity. Any donations will be gratefully received. Thank you.

Please can I remind parents and carers to write in the School Planners when they have read with their child. The objectives written at school during a reading session can be used with other books that you may have at home but please record how they have got on.

Home Learning

At the beginning of each new term the children will receive a booklet of home learning tasks and activities for them to complete and work on each week. The most important part of home learning is to talk with your child, read to, and with your child, every day and record this in their School Planners and allow them to think for themselves and develop their independence skills. After Christmas, as the children become developmentally ready, they will each have a small number of simple words to learn to spell each week.

How you can help!

Help to develop questioning skills and encouraging the children to record their own independent learning would really help the children.
