It's nearly showtime for the children of Iris Class. They have worked really hard to remember where they should be and when they need to be there and also to remember lots of the words for the songs. I know you will all have the proud feeling when you come to see it next week. Thank you to all of the parents and carers for supplying costumes and clothes for the performance.

We have been learning about capacities this week. Which is full? Which is empty? Which is half full? These are all questions the children have been thinking about. We have also been ordering a variety of capacities from empty to full and a few in between.

We have listened to different versions of the Christmas story that Christians believe in and we've talked about the fact that not everyone celebrates Christmas. We've talked about the fact that in some ways we are all the same and in some ways we are all different and that's OK. The children have been sequencing the story by putting the main events in order.

Next Thursday morning is the morning that an outside production company will be coming in to perform for us. Very exciting...and of course our performances are on Tuesday and Wednesday of next week.

We have lots of coughs and colds in Iris Class at the moment, including the grown ups, so please try and keep yourselves well as we enter the last couple of weeks at school. Thanks you.

Home Learning

At the beginning of each new term the children will receive a booklet of home learning tasks and activities for them to complete and work on each week. The most important part of home learning is to talk with your child, read to, and with your child, every day and record this in their School Planners and allow them to think for themselves and develop their independence skills. After Christmas, as the children become developmentally ready, they will each have a small number of simple words to learn to spell each week.

How you can help!

Help to develop questioning skills and encouraging the children to record their own independent learning would really help the children.
