The children were absolutely amazing in our production of 'Children of the World.' Each and every one of the performers sang their hearts out and signed the songs beautifully. I'm sure you were all so proud, as were we!

The children were superstars when they watched the amazing performance of 'Sleeping Beauty.' It was really fabulous to see them so animated and they really enjoyed the idea of watching someone else perform after their own performances earlier in the week.

In the new year the Iris Class children will start taking part in a school wide initiative around reading. Reading Buddies happens once a week in school and the children are paired with an older child to share books, read tricky words, talk about the story, make predictions and have a lovely shared time with books. It is a really nice time across the school and I know the children will love it. Reading is the key to unlocking the rest of the curriculum and is a vitally important part of children's education.

Just a reminder that Wednesday 19th December is the final day of this term and the children return on Thursday 3rd January.

Happy Christmas and all good wishes for the new year from the Iris Class team.

Home Learning

At the beginning of each new term the children will receive a booklet of home learning tasks and activities for them to complete and work on each week. The most important part of home learning is to talk with your child, read to, and with your child, every day and record this in their School Planners and allow them to think for themselves and develop their independence skills. After Christmas, as the children become developmentally ready, they will each have a small number of simple words to learn to spell each week.

How you can help!

Help to develop questioning skills and encouraging the children to record their own independent learning would really help the children.
