This week in Iris Class we have been learning all about the story of the Three Little Pigs. the children have been practising using their phonic sounds and their tricky words in their writing and trying really hard to remember their finger spaces.

We have begun our learning about 'Weddings' and we are very excited about having a pretend wedding at school during the last week of this term. (More information to follow)

In Maths, we have been learning how to count on from the biggest number when adding two amounts. We put the biggest number in our pocket and counted on and some of us learnt how to use a number line to count on also starting at the biggest number.

Our Jigsaw Genie learning has been all about the ingredients for friendship. the children came up with lots of great ideas. We talked about the fact that it doesn't matter what someone looks like if they are a good friend.

Thank you for the contributions for the Iris Class cake sale. We raised just over £100 which is fabulous! Now to see what the children would like to buy...

Enjoy the long weekend with your families and friends. Thank you.

Home Learning

At the beginning of each new term the children will receive a booklet of home learning tasks and activities for them to complete and work on each week. The most important part of home learning is to talk with your child, read to, and with your child, every day and record this in their School Planners and allow them to think for themselves and develop their independence skills. After Christmas, as the children become developmentally ready, they will each have a small number of simple words to learn to spell each week.

How you can help!

Help to develop questioning skills and encouraging the children to record their own independent learning would really help the children.
